BIOL/EVRN414: Principles of ecology

Your standard undergraduate introduction to ecology. Familiarizes students with the major concepts. The course is organized around three themes:

  1. Ecology and evolution are two sides of the same coin. Evolution sets the stage for ecological interactions; ecology defines the selection that drives evolution.
  2. Ecology and human society shape each other, top to bottom.
  3. Ecology connects to many disciplines across the physical, life, and social sciences. Ecological ideas can be applied in whatever field draws a student’s primary interest.

Ecology is exciting because it interacts with so many other disciplines and applications!
